About the Course
In Lesson 1 of this Module, you learned to start at the ball flight and identify the club’s kinetic problem. Now comes the detective work: tracing that problem backward through the kinematic chain to find its root cause. This is where the Jacobs kinetic methodology meets TPI’s body-swing connection and Dr. Kwon’s ground-up model. We will work through four diagnostic layers, moving from the club handle through the arms, trunk, pelvis, and finally the feet’s interaction with the ground. After completing this lesson, you will be able to: Apply a systematic “reverse kinetic chain” diagnostic, tracing club delivery problems backward through four layers: hands/wrists, arms/trunk, pelvis/hips, and feet/ground. Use AMG-derived observable checkpoints (wrist angles, body tilts, rotational benchmarks) to identify where in the kinematic chain the breakdown occurs. Integrate the TPI physical screen to determine whether a kinematic fault is a technical error or a physical limitation. Connect the diagnostic findings back to a targeted intervention — technical drill, physical exercise, or equipment change.
About the Creator
Tom is a Class “A” member of the PGA of Canada with more than 40 years of experience as a golf professional, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the Rio Golf Academy. Over his career, he played for 13 years on the PGA Tour Canada, as well as the Australian and Asian tours, competing in numerous tournaments worldwide. Having gained invaluable experience by playing alongside some of the finest players of his time, Tom understands what it takes to succeed at the highest level. In 2006, he founded a full-time junior and post-grad residential golf academy in Orlando, Florida, aimed at preparing young golfers for success in junior golf, collegiate golf, and beyond. Through his academy, Tom worked closely with some of Central Florida’s top academic institutions, helping his students graduate and secure sports scholarships to prestigious universities across the United States. After merging his academy with another well-established institution, Tom transitioned back into the management side of the golf industry. He has been serving as the General Manager of Rio Pinar Golf for the past six and a half years, continuing to make an impact in the golf world.
